The 19th of December 2015 will forever be rembered as an epochal moment for residents of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in New Kuchingoro, a suburb in Abuja. The Atimoh Odili Foundation (AOF), as part of its philanthropic gestures donated gift items and relief materials to the residents of this camp made up of mostly women and children ravaged by the scourge of war in the North East.



The Founder of AOF, Dr. Atimoh Odili, is a man who understands the hardship faced by all under privileged people and for many years has devoted his resources to fighting the war against poverty. For those at the camp, numbering about 936, including women and children, it was quite a moving experience when they witnessed the arrival of loads of relief materials comprising of mattresses, blankets, bags of rice, milk, tomatoes and salt, all worth over N20 million.


Tagged #TouchingLivesAtKuchingoro, its aim, among others, is to offer urgent relief to Camp residents and in the future explore opportunities for meaningful re-integration into the larger society.


 "We generally take up projects that have the ability of directly improving people's standard of living. Our mission is to eradicate poverty in Nigeria. For the IDPS, once we are able to address the fundamental problem of hunger, we can help them grow and become reintegrated into the society," said Miss Chioma Nwigwe, Managing Director AOF.

Alex OttiAn Appeal Court has declared the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Mr Alex Otti, the winner of the Abia State Governorship election.

The court in its ruling on Thursday ordered the swearing in of Mr Otti, as governor of Abia State and asked Mr Okezie Ikpeazu to vacate the office.

Mr Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party was declared winner of the election held in April by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

A plane travelling from Mumbai to London was forced to turn back mid-flight after a rat was spotted on board. Flight AI 131 travelling to London on Wednesday was flying over Iran when someone on board said they spotted the rodent, reports said.

Passengers continued their journey on a replacement aircraft some time later.

Air India has said that the plane will be fumigated and the presence of a rodent was being investigated. Rats occasionally get on board aircraft along with catering and other supplies but can pose a serious technical as well as a health hazard if they chew through wires.


The airline said that "though the presence of the rodent was not confirmed," the decision to abort the flight was precautionary and in the interests of passenger safety.

Josh Cohen, Reuters: Corruption in Ukraine is so bad, a Nigerian prince would be embarrassed

United States Vice President Joe Biden has never been one to hold his tongue. He certainly didn't in his recent trip to Kiev. In a speech before Ukraine's Parliament, Biden told legislators that corruption was eating Ukraine "like a cancer," and warned Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that Ukraine had "one more chance" to confront corruption before the United States cuts off aid.

Biden's language was undiplomatic, but he's right: Ukraine needs radical reforms to root out graft. After 18 months in power, Poroshenko still refuses to decisively confront corruption. It's time for Poroshenko to either step up his fight against corruption — or step down if he won't.

When it comes to Ukrainian corruption, the numbers speak for themselves. Over $12 billion per year disappears from the Ukrainian budget, according to an adviser to Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau. And in its most recent review of global graft, anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International ranked Ukraine 142 out of 174 countries on its Corruption Perceptions Index — below countries such as Uganda, Nicaragua and Nigeria. Ordinary Ukrainians also endure paying petty bribes in all areas of life. From vehicle registration, to getting their children into kindergarten, to obtaining needed medicine, everything connected to government has a price.

dasukiThe lawyer to the embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has appealed to the Nigerian government to allow the rule of law prevail in his trial.

Speaking exclusively to Channels Television in Abuja on the re-arrest of his client by officials of the Department of State Service shortly after he was released from Kuje Prisons, Dasuki’s lawyer, Mr Ahmed Raji, said his  client deserved to enjoy the bail granted him by different courts.

Colonel Dasuki, who pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of alleged illegal possession of firearms preferred against him by the Federal Government, had earlier been granted bail by a Federal High Court to enable him seek medical attention abroad.

He was also granted bail by an Abuja High Court in another suit of criminal diversion of funds amounting to 2.1 billion dollars preferred against him by the Federal Government.

On Wednesday, Mr Raji confirmed the re-arrest of his client shortly after he was released on bail from Kuje prisons.

In a telephone interview with Channels Television’s correspondent in Abuja, Mr Raji said that no reason was given by the security agents for the re-arrest of Colonel Dasuki.

IBTimes: Russia Arms Exports Crossed $15B In 2015, Moscow Plans Similar Sales For 2016

Russia exported over $15 billion worth of arms in 2015 and plans to sell similar volumes of military equipment in 2016, an official from the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation reportedly told Ria Novosti on Wednesday. The sales figures come despite several economic sanctions against Russian companies by Western powers over the Ukraine conflict.

"The plan for 2015 has been completed with the production of military equipment delivered with a total of $15.2 billion and deliveries are continuing," the official told Ria Novosti, according to Sputnik News, adding: "Next year's main goal is to retain the second place [after the United States] in exporting weapons in the world."

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, fdc, NPM, on behalf of the entire officers of the Nigeria Police Force, heartily felicitates with good people of Nigeria as we celebrate the New Year 2016.


Against the backdrop of security challenges in the country and the general preparation for the New Year Celebrations, the Nigeria Police High Command has urged worshippers both at Jummat and Church services to take adequate measures to reduce the number of vehicles around these hallowed worship centres.

The Force equally advises operators of Motor Parks, Shopping Malls and Recreational Centres to work very closely with the Police and other security agencies as they strive to strengthen general security in their respective facilities.

Meanwhile, to ensure a secure, peaceful and hitch-free nation-wide New Year celebration, the IGP has directed all Zonal AIGs and State Command Commissioners of Police to ensure an effective and efficient deployment of all operational manpower and tools at the disposal of their respective Commands. He has further directed the AIG Border Patrol to ensure that the nation's borders are effectively manned to prevent any cross-border crime.

While saluting the courage and gallantry of officers of the Force for their tireless services in protecting lives and property during the year, the IGP charges Police personnel to continue to be civil in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. He, however, warns that officers found acting contrary to the Force's "Vision and Mission" will be appropriately sanctioned.
The Inspector-General of Police, while wishing all Nigerians a very blissful and peaceful New Year Celebrations, assures the public of the Nigeria Police Force readiness and commitment towards ensuring a safe and secure environment.

I learnt to ''Never say never'' because no one truly knows tomorrow..Don't judge others with the thought you can never be in their shoes ..You don't know the battles others face..

Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed says Nigerian troops have largely met the December deadline given by President Buhari to end insurgency in Nigeria. He said this at a meeting with editors in Lagos yesterday December 30th.
"In a few days, the deadline issued by President Muhammadu Buhari to the military to defeat Boko Haram will expire. Without equivocating, I will repeat what I said that has sparked a firestorm: Our gallant military has largely met the deadline!
I make this assertion with all sense of responsibility and they are backed by facts. Among the areas where Boko Haram has been kicked out is Bama, which was the self-declared headquarters of its Caliphate. From there, it collected taxes, dispensed jungle justice, deposed and installed emirs and hoisted its flag. Today, the town is firmly in the hands of our troops."he said
He condemned those criticizing him of his assertion that the troops have won the war against the terror group
"The armchair critics, who dispute these facts from the comfort of their living rooms, are free to visit the theatre of war to see things for themselves. Perhaps then, they will be more circumspecting in issuing reckless statements that give nothing but succour to Boko Haram. I have gone to the theatre of war to see things for myself. I did not just stop in Maiduguri, I went to Konduga, Kaure and Bama, which, as I said, was once the headquarters of the Boko Haram Caliphate,"

Former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki's health is bad, his wife has said, pleading for his freedom. Mrs Dasuki created a scene at the headquarters of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) on Tuesday night when she begged top officials of the agency not to allow her husband die in custody.


She and other relations had waited patiently for Dasuki to meet the last peg of his bail conditions, a surety with about N250million property.But immediately Dasuki was released at the prison, he was re-arrested by the DSS.

After several hours of trying to locate her husband, she returned to the DSS office and demanded for him or in the alternative, she should be locked up with him . She reportedly said:
"Nigerians should help me beg the Federal Government, the DSS and other agencies to release my husband who did his best to serve this nation. He is ill, he needs medical attention, he is not pretending. I implore the DSS not to allow him to die in custody. I saw my husband and I felt dejected. He is not just well. Nigerians should assist him to get a reprieve. We(myself, the children and relations) are all destabilised. We don't know what is happening because three courts have granted him bail. Why are they after him? Let those concerned respect the court by releasing my husband.There is no way my husband will run away from the country under any guise. They should please follow the rule of law and uphold his right to bail."
A source said Dasuki's wife was allowed to see her husband.
"We have followed the rule of law , the ex-NSA is in safe custody. He was once in DSS custody and he was never maltreated and he had access to medicare," the source said.

Jose Mourinho has been offered a job by a Brazilian football club  dubbed 'the worst team  in the world ' !  The Portuguese has been linked with Real Madrid , Manchester United , PSG and Inter Milan - but Brazilian side Ibis Sport Club have joined the race to sign the tactician sacked by Chelsea earlier this month .


Ibis Sport Club, a Brazilian-side based in Recife, have offered the Portuguese their manager's job. The offer includes a food hamper as his monthly salary and bonuses for every game he loses. And if that's not enough, Mourinho will be sacked....if he WINS the title! . Here is the contract :



The offer is unfortunately a joke from the Brazilian club to mark their equivalent of April Fool's Day on December 28. The club recorded  no wins for four years between 1980 and 1984  - saw them become known as the worst team in the world.
